Joy Oluchi Uguru (ASON National President) holds the following degrees: B.A. and M.A. (Linguistics), MPA), PGDE and Ph.D in Phonetics and Phonology; all were bagged in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She is an associate professor in the Department of Linguistics, Igbo and other Nigerian Languages as well as the Humanities Unit of the School of General Studies, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Asso. Prof. Uguru has researched extensively on tone and intonation. Acoustic phonetics, the focus of her Ph.D work, has formed the major part of her research. She has published many scholarly works in local and international journals. Her book, A Common Nigerian Language, is a major work geared towards meeting the language needs of a multilingual nation like Nigeria. At present, the bulk of her research is on speech processing in noisy environments, tonal distinctions in Igbo dialects and the application of some phonological theories in the analysis of prosody. Chinedu Ezebube (ASON National Secretary) 

Deacon Ndubuisi Ogbonna Ahamefula,(ASON National public Relation Officer) lectures at the Department of Linguistics, Igbo and Other Nigerian Languages, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His area of specialization is Applied Linguistics but he has research interests in Applied Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Pragmatics, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), Translation, Language Documentation, Writing Systems/Orthography. He attended several national and international conferences and has many papers in learned journals both local and international. He holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, He was the best graduating student of the 1995 graduating set and also won the Onwu Prize for best student in Orthography. He is almost through with MA in Linguistics studies at the University of Nigeria. He is a member of the Linguistics Association of Nigeria and the Business Manager of the Journal of Igbo Studies (JIS) published by the Igbo Studies Association (ISA).

AKAEZE CHIOMA MAGDALINE (ASON National Treasurer) Lectures, at the DEPARTMENT OF LINGUISTICS, IGBO, AND OTHER NIGERIAN LANGUAGES, UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA. SHE HOLDS DIPLOMA IN SOCIAL WORK (1992), B. A. LINGUISTICS/IGBO (1996) M. A. (Igbo Literature and Stylistics) Lecturer, PhD (in view) in (AFRICAN LITERATURE MARRIED, WITH CHILDREN. ) RESEARCH SKILLS: SKILLS IN IGBO LANGUAGE, LITERATURE AND STYLISTICS, she has many publications in her honour.

Professor UGURU, Michael Ifeanyi was born on 22nd December 1956. He graduated from the Department of Crop Science, University of Nigeria, Nsukka with FIRST CLASS Honours in1984. He obtained the MSc and PhD degrees in 1986 and 1990, respectively. Professor Uguru has published over 100 research articles in national and international journals and has won several academic laurels in innovative research. He is married to Dr (Mrs) Joy Uguru. Okoye Chinenye .L. is a lecturer in Linguistics Department at Nnamdi Azikiwe Federal University, Awka, Nigeria. She teaches both graduate and post-graduate students majoring in linguistics, she has a number of publications and has presented a host of presentations both at national and international conferences. NNEJI, Ogechukwu Miracle (ASON Financial Secretary) is a young, vibrant academic of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and is presently pursuing a Master of Arts in Linguistics with special interest in Syntax. She joined the work force of the University of Nigeria in January, 2011. She was born in 1983 to the family of Joseph and Roseline Nneji. Her research works include - Nneji, O.M. Mz. Okeke, Chukwuma Onyebuchi was born on the 11th of April, 1978. He graduated from the Department of Linguistics and Igbo, University of Nigeria, Nsukka with First Class Honours in 2003. He obtained the M.A degree in 2007 and he is at the verge of completing his Ph.D. in the same University. Chuma Okeke has published over twenty research papers in local, national and international journals and has also written several Igbo novels, short stories and translated a lot of works from Igbo to English and vice versa. Gideon Sunday OMACHONU, PhD, AvHF is Associate Professor and Head, Department of Languages and Linguistics, Nasarawa State University, Keffi. He attended the University of Ilorin, Kwara State for B. A. Hons Linguistics (1995) and obtained higher degrees (MA and PhD Linguistics, 2002 and 2007 respectively) at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He is a Fellow of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung/Foundation, Federal Republic of Germany. Dr Omachonu has over sixty publications in refereed journals and books (including five books). He has edited several scholarly journals and books including, NSUK Texts in General Linguistics Vol.1 (2011), Igala Language Studies (2011), Effective Use of English (2013), Nasara Journal of Humanities, etc and has served as occasional assessor to some international journals in Africa, Europe and South Korea. Dr Omachonu is currently involved in some funded research projects sponsored by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and other funding bodies. He is a member of several learned associations such as West African Linguistic Society (WALS), Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN) and others.
